Seiryu kiyosumi (also known as kiyosumiensis 'Seiryu') Zilis lists both but I go with the H. Gowen version.
2 plants - 6 scapes - 256 flowers
50 pods - 20% pods set
Successful pods
Lakeside Breaking News - 2
Self - 1
Raving Beauty - 4
Mr. Red Genes - 6
Midnight Ride misted sport - 6
Rods Green Stingray - 12
Color Fantasy * Alabama Gold OP - 4
Designer Genes - 6
Mr Blue - 1
First Frost - 1
Blue Arrow - 1
Beet Salad - 1
hypoleuca - 2
Miss Linda Smith - 2
** - One plant was in the ground and had 16% pod set while the one that was in the pot (much smaller and 2 scapes) under ideal conditions and in water had 36%. The number seems significant in the difficult breeder.
If I could only grow one set of seeds this season - this would be the one. _________________ Jeff 1.0 |

PS - my previous fun theory was that this plant would only set pods with pollen that had blue in the name. Guess it is no longer valid. _________________ Jeff 1.0 |

I got my first one of these from Doug and the second from Doug's source - Hideko Gowen.
I really like working with this plant. _________________ Jeff 1.0 |

I think that kind of streaking would look good on a big one. like elatior. _________________ doug |

Brian - the plant that Doug and myself are referring to is the correct Seiryu kiyosumi. Zilis even has a picture in his book. _________________ Jeff 1.0 |

Jeff
The plant I got is not the streaked One. After I replied before I went to the Library
and saw the pix. was not close to the plant I have. I am sure If we knew the translation
It would explain the Jap. Description in the name, of the plant you have. Looks like a good one

the main attribute of seiryu k is its unique streaking. Its some where between the milk in spilt milk and grass clipping.
It seems to be somewhat stable. It doesn't look to be moving to the center or margin. _________________ doug |
